翡翠介绍

The King of Jade

Jadeite (翡翠, fěi cuì) is the rarer, harder, and more intensely coloured of the two true jades — the other being nephrite. Prized for millennia in Chinese, Mesoamerican and Southeast Asian cultures, jadeite today commands some of the highest prices of any gemstone in the world — second only to diamond in the Asian luxury market.

Its colour range spans imperial green, lavender, white, black, and the coveted "icy" translucent varieties. At Jadencia, we source jadeite directly from verified suppliers in Myanmar (Burma) — the origin of the world's finest jadeite — and bring it to you without the markup layers of traditional jewellers.

Translucency

True jadeite glows from within when held to light. The finest pieces — icy white and imperial green — allow light to pass through, creating a living, luminous quality no other stone replicates.

Hardness

At Mohs 6.5–7, jadeite is harder and denser than nephrite. It takes a glass-like polish that reveals its inner depth — and wears beautifully on the wrist for a lifetime.

Origin

All Jadencia jadeite originates from Myanmar — the Hpakant and Lonkin regions. We verify provenance and will not carry treated (B or C grade) pieces without clear disclosure.

Grading System

Understanding Jadeite Grades

Jadeite is graded A, B, and C — a system not of quality, but of treatment. Knowing the difference protects your investment.

The Benchmark

Grade A

Completely natural jadeite — no chemical treatment, no polymer infusion. Only mechanically polished. Grade A retains the natural internal structure, translucency, and energy of the stone. All premium pieces at Jadencia are Grade A.

Treated

Grade B

Bleached to remove brown stains, then infused with polymer resin to improve translucency. The treatment degrades over time — yellowing, cracking. Initially attractive in photos; considerably less so in 10 years.

Dyed

Grade C

Dyed to appear more intensely coloured. Colour fades with exposure to light and wear. Grade C has no investment value. Sold widely online at low prices — and worth exactly that.

Jade Knowledge

Why Buy Jadeite in Malaysia?

Malaysia sits at a unique crossroads in the jadeite trade. Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru are active hubs for jade dealers trading directly with Myanmar sources — meaning buyers in Malaysia have access to freshly sourced pieces without the additional premiums of Hong Kong or Taiwanese retail.

At Jadencia, we leverage our position in Malaysia to offer Singapore, regional, and international buyers access to quality jadeite at prices that reflect the actual rarity of the stone — not the address of the boutique selling it.

How to Choose Your Jadeite Bangle

Choosing a jadeite bangle involves size, colour, and texture — all of which are personal. Here is what to consider:

  • Size: Bangles must slip over the widest part of the hand. Measure your hand's knuckle circumference to find the right inner diameter (most adult women wear 50–58mm).
  • Colour: Imperial green commands the highest value. Icy translucent varieties are highly prized. Lavender is increasingly popular. All are Grade A.
  • Translucency: Hold the piece up to light. Water-clear (glassy) translucency is the pinnacle. Cloudy or opaque pieces at the same price point warrant scrutiny.
  • Texture: True jadeite has a fine, even grain — no visible sugar-like crystals. Coarser grain may indicate a lower jadeite species or B-grade treatment.

Jadeite in Chinese Culture

Confucius listed eleven virtues embodied in jade — among them benevolence, wisdom, courage, and purity. To the Chinese, jade (玉) is not an ornament but a moral statement. Jadeite, the "Emperor's Jade", carries this history while being the rarest and most optically spectacular of the jade family.

Wearing jadeite is believed to protect the wearer, absorbing negative energy and releasing it harmlessly into the stone. When a jade bangle cracks in an accident, the old belief is that the jade sacrificed itself for its wearer.

Caring for Your Jadeite

  • Rinse occasionally with clean water and dry with a soft cloth
  • Avoid chemicals — perfume, soap, bleach
  • Store separately to prevent scratching from harder stones
  • Grade A jadeite benefits from contact with skin — the natural oils maintain its lustre
  • Do not wear during high-impact activities or heavy work

"The green of imperial jadeite contains the entire forest — every shade of life, compressed into stone."
